| It is unclear whether pig nerve cells have the same capacity as human cells in terms of their longevity, connections and ability to perform the normal functions of their human equivalent. However it is very likely that pig neurons producing specific chemicals for certain diseases such as Parkinson’s disease are sufficiently similar to humans that they can be transplanted successfully and made to survive. |
