| There is no evidence that PERV may infect or lead to any type of disease in human recipients of live porcine cells or organs. As a consequence, as xenotransplantation could ultimately provide a solution to the worldwide organ shortage, active research in pig-to-nonhuman primate xenotransplantation is underway in all major technologically advanced countries in the world such as EU, US, Australia, Canada, Japan and China. |
